What is EDU-ACTION?
EDU-ACTION is the CLC’s member engagement online summer school, dedicated to helping union members move from member engagement to political action. Democracy means people working together to make change. And people work better together when they’re engaged on the issues that affect them and when they’re using relevant skills.
EDU-ACTION is an online learning program that is designed to build leadership skills, share useful resources and foster interaction among learners. We have made the platform at www.engage.ning.com as user-friendly as possible. EDU-ACTION runs in July and August 2015. Learners engage with the course material at their own pace and participate in community discussion as they see fit.
At our online EDU-ACTION course, you will:
- Strengthen your face-to-face people skills
- Learn how to talk about election issues in an accessible way
- Learn how to organize in your workplace, and
- Connect members to progressive political campaigns
EDU-ACTION course description:
EDU-ACTION has resources and training to help you connect and build with your members – and a community of union members all learning and sharing together. Read articles and tip sheets, watch videos and discuss – all at your own pace, on your own time. And then come together with members across the country for webinars (online meetings) to learn skills, learn the issues and learn how to organize in your workplace.
Participants will read, watch, attend¸ and engage with three modules:
- Module 1 – Go, Listen, Build: How to connect with your members
- Module 2 – The Better Choice Campaign: The issues
- Module 3 – Organizing Skills: What you need to organize in your workplace
Each module contains written materials to read, videos to watch, and webinars (online meetings) to attend. And there is opportunity throughout to engage in discussion through group chat or comment sections.
Not tech-savvy?
EDU-ACTION has a team of dedicated facilitators and administrators to help you connect and participate. We are here for you!
Not usually comfortable with online learning?
This program is different. We are using straightforward tip-sheets and simple videos as the learning materials, and we are hosting a friendly online community for members to discuss and share experiences. Join us!
Just coming to the labour movement and still getting a sense of where you fit?
