Qualifications
- Too many qualified professionals arrive in Canada ready to work but their credentials are not recognized. We need a government that will take immediate action to recognize the foreign credentials of internationally trained professionals and to deal with employment challenges faced by immigrants.
Keep Families Together
- With the Conservative Government’s changesto family sponsorship—especially sponsorship of children, parents and grandparents—families are too often separated. We need a government that makes it a priority to keep families together.
Expensive Processing Fees
- Since 2014, the Conservative Government has increased citizenship processing fees by over 500%.
Unfair Application Process
- Changes brought in by the Conservative Government to the immigration application process have made it easier for an application to be denied without proper investigation by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Temporary Foreign Workers
- Under the Conservative Government’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), people who have lived and worked for years in Canada are not allowed to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Second-Class Citizens
- A new law by the Conservative Government makes it possible to revoke the Canadian citizenship of anyone who has immigrated to Canada, or has dual citizenship. Now, the only Canadians who can never lose their citizenship are those who were born in Canada and only hold Canadian citizenship.
How to vote:
1. Make sure you are registered.
2. Know where to vote.
3. Check that you have the right IDENTIFICATION.
How to register:
- It’s simple. Just visit Elections Canada
- You can also register on the spot when you go to vote, but bring the right ID
Where to vote:
- Vote at any Elections Canada office
- Vote at the advance polls from October 9-12 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
- Vote on election day, October 19, 2015
Bring the right identification:
- Show one piece of government-issued ID, which must include a NAME, PHOTO, and your CURRENT ADDRESS (e.g., a driver’s license, provincial or territorial ID card);
OR
- Show two pieces of ID, one piece with your NAME and another with yourNAME and ADDRESS (e.g., health card and phone bill, or debit card and bank statement);
OR
- Take an oath, show two pieces of ID with your name, and have someone who knows you attest to your address (this person must show proof of identity and address and be registered in the same polling division);
OR
- Provide a letter of confirmation of residence, letter of stay, admission form or statement of benefits from one of the designated establishments: student residence, senior residence, shelter, or soup kitchen.
