Each year, the New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) organizes a labour summer camp at the Moncton campus of l’Université de Moncton.
At these camps, participants learn about the labour movement and its history, workplace health & safety, the environment, child labour and sweatshops. Participants will also explore issues of human rights, collective bargaining, multiculturalism and equality rights.
Education sessions are mostly held before noon, while leisure activities, such as visits to Magic Mountain, bowling, and other entertainment, take place in the afternoon and evening.
To be eligible, the youth must be a secondary school student (grades 9 to 12), and be a son or daughter of a member of a local union affiliated to the NBFL. The camp is free to attend; parents are only responsible to ensure transportation to and from camp.
2015 Camp Dates: August 3 – 8
