Labour Day Events 2020

March 23, 2023,

September 7 marks Labour Day, one of the most important days on the calendar for workers. This year we will be celebrating differently. We can’t gather for the usual parades and celebrations because of COVID-19 safety restrictions, so we are inviting you to celebrate online. Find a virtual event near you:

Grey-Bruce Labour Council
Car Caravan – Start time 11:00am in Meaford
The Grey-Bruce Labour Council invites all of the community to a unique Labour Day celebration. The worldwide pandemic has changed so much, but not the need to celebrate labour.
Starting at 11:00am in Meaford, everyone is invited to join a car caravan honouring workers. People may join and leave the car caravan anywhere along the route. First traveling to Owen Sound, a socially distanced picnic will take place at Heritage Place Mall. The caravan continues to Southampton, Port Elgin, Chesley, Hanover and ends in Walkerton. There will be a socially distanced prize draw in Walkerton. Details are available at https://greybrucelabour.wordpress.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/GBlabour
Making sure that workers and essential workers are not forgotten, the Grey-Bruce Labour Council is honoring workers in this celebration of all working people. We have purchased billboard space to give out a Labour Day message across the region.
The day will wrap up with a Facebook live prize draw from Kincardine.
