“Your government made a promise to Canadians that it will implement the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and we believe that it is past time for action,” said CLC president Hassan Yussuff in a letter to the prime minister.

Yussuff has asked the prime minister to support an NDP motion before Parliament on November 1 – the motion outlines a number of concrete measures that would help end the discrimination against First Nations children.

“The success and welfare of Canada’s First Nations children is an issue that transcends politics and is broadly supported by the Canadian people,” wrote Yussuff. “I hope we can count on you to begin to address this historic wrong and redeem Canada’s reputation on the world stage.”
