Care work can be paid or unpaid, and in both cases, it is often undervalued and goes unrecognized, despite it being essential to our lives.
Countless workers – mostly women – have had to leave the workforce or reduce their income to pick up the slack because the care services their families need are not available or are not accessible to them.
This includes care for aging parents, child care, and support for people with disabilities. Without affordable and accessible care, many don’t and won’t have the option to “return to work”.
We need investments in accessible, quality, and public care services that meet our care needs and reduce unpaid care. We also need good care jobs that value care workers.
Send a letter to your MP and tell them we need action now to address Canada’s care crisis.
