Step 1: Ask us to introduce you to a union organizer who can walk you through what to do.
Step 2: Build support for your union by talking with your coworkers and get as many of them as possible to sign union cards.
Step 3: When enough cards are signed, your union organizer will file an application with your Labour Board.
Step 4: The process differs slightly depending on where you live, but once a secret ballot is held and enough of your coworkers vote yes, you will be officially certified as a union, and it will be time to start bargaining your first contract.
“When we decided we wanted to start a union we weren’t sure how to go about it without losing our jobs. The CLC put us in touch with an experienced union organizer who guided us through every step, and we won!”
