The Canadian Labour Congress has a vacancy for a National Representative, Digital Infrastructure at our Headquarters office, based in Ottawa, Ontario.

The successful candidate will assist in the implementation and maintenance of all digital systems for the CLC. This includes digital tool management, web development, database management, and data planning.

The successful candidate will report to the IT Administrator. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the work of CLC Officers and Canadian Council in the implementation of CLC priority areas.
  • Develop, operate, and perform tasks using Action Network and/or other digital platforms, databases, and tools.
  • Support the organization’s role on the Product Development Committee (PDC) for Action Network, including engaging with Action Network, CLC affiliates, and other PDC members and stakeholders, participating in development planning activities, and advancing special development projects.
  • Advance the Canadian Labour Network project, including managing onboarding and strategic/technical support for CLC affiliates using Action Network.
  • Advance digital toolset program with labour councils and federations of labour.
  • Promote the adoption and effective use of digital tools through presentations, facilitated discussions, one-on-one meetings, and community building initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for integrating digital tools and platforms to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Collaborate with departments and regions to identify and implement tech solutions that align with the organization’s goals and requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to various CLC departments for building digital assets, including email, peer-to-peer texting, advocacy tools, and web pages.
  • Support network administration for various digital infrastructure components.
  • Work with external consultants to determine and improve system processes and development with regional staff and various departments on projects and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on digital systems for internal and external audiences.
  • Support data management processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop and manage data analysis of CLC systems to support data driven decision making across various CLC departments.
  • Support the development, creation, and management of the CLC’s digital infrastructure.
  • Support the IT department to help manage CLC’s technology, data, and digital services offerings.
  • Participate in strategic planning that defines the direction of the IT department.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience developing the digital position of a social movement organization, agency, or non-profit/non-governmental organization.
  • Direct experience with Action Network, NationBuilder, and/or other advocacy platforms.
  • Direct experience with iMIS and/or other CRM platforms.
  • Experience working with digital campaigns and/or familiarity with digital strategies for engaging communities and data informed online organizing.
  • Experience with data management, including managing email lists, data segmentation, analytics, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with WordPress management, page creation, web journeys, HTML coding, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with developing and facilitating technical skills training, in person and online.
  • Experience working in various departments at once and excellent skills for coordination across organizations.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and project-management skills.
  • Proven ability to learn complex technical systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts and analysis to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and take initiative to advance files.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.

The annual starting salary for this position is $104,568.34 along with comprehensive benefits
under the IAMAW, Local Lodge 3111 CULR collective agreement. Benefits include health, vision, and dental coverage, group life insurance, LTD coverage, pension contributions, as well as a monthly vehicle allowance with coverage for fuel, internet, and cell phone expenses.
