Union Stewards Handbook

Being a union steward is one of the most rewarding and meaningful ways you can bring more fairness and inclusion to the workplace.

The Canadian Labour Congress provides this Union Steward Handbook to help new union stewards, but anyone can learn from it. As a worker, whether you are in a union or not, there is much here that can equip you to face the many challenges of today’s more precarious employment environment.

The handbook builds on decades of knowledge and experience from past generations. Updated, it responds to new understandings of our world and the need for innovative approaches, building inclusive unions connected to members, and listening to new and younger workers who will be the union stewards and labour leaders of tomorrow.
